I'm sure many have figured out what a powerful combination the thread title is against hordes. But I don't see it used often by other rangers while in parties so thought I would throw this out for discussion.

    A devastating Combo N+T+P

Net skill with marking talent thrown on the mass + Thicket skill with Path of Destruction talent sent through the horde + 1 hunting arrow that marks anything in front of you so that precision shot can go throughout the entire horde.

When the first mob in the horde dies he epodes for 300% damage and sets off a chain reaction of devastation to everything in the area that makes me giggle.:D Little squishes screaming in agony of death.

I have gathered and taken out groups of 35-40 mobs with that combo. The moon event maps are great places to use it, as well as PW's.

If you are fighting high HP mobs like in a PW, knock some health off a couple of mobs first then NTP combo for wonderfully satisfying results. Either they all go BOOM, or what is left for health is minimal.

I wait for those to drop a singularity on top, resulting in instant poofs. Some more tips for pve:
Singularity+ice bolt makes monsters entirely immobile, ice bolt splash very useful.
That mage running ahead of the group is looking to coral a bunch of monsters rather than killing them one by one as they approach. Once corralled they can be splashed effectively and taken out in a jiffy (mages more or less do only splash damage). So don't attack them as they come, run past the first few and make a big group around archer mobs (as they will not follow). Mages are reluctant to use singularity on only a few monsters, so map clearing is faster if the group corals.
If you draw a lot of aggro, make full use of others' singularities/thickets and splash. Too many players stand half an inch outside singularity and fight mobs there when they can move back an inch (into the singularity) and kill them twice as fast.
For armor-breakable bosses, wait until singularity and headbutt land before going all out on them, otherwise you're just wasting mana/concentration/whatever.
Cover the squishy/n00by players in your group. They might not add to the group's damage output too much but their stuns and stuffs will help against mobs, and they will be grateful.

Whoever uses this combo in my group gets instant kick out from the group.
There was a bug some time ago ... devs claims they fixed it ... when no drop is rewarded to other players when using those skills.
This is still happening ... though ... not completely without drop but 1-2 piles of copper coins.
It is tested by me many times and it always ends up without items drop.

I do: HT+PS combo ... and is very fast kill with rewarding drop for everyone in the group.

Sorry Trak, you're way off on this. There WAS a bug for way too long. Its been fixed for months. I get drops all the time from thicket including 2 uniques. Anyone that uses the thicket routinely knows it does not effect drops anymore.

Sounds like you've kicked a bunch of peeps for nothing.

For you ... have you asked other group members ... what they get when you kill with this skill?

Fixed ... like they do give drops ... but not much accept 1-2 copper drops.

EDIT: I didn't kicked out many people ... because I do not get in group with people who are using this skill .... I know my friends and their playing style.

You're question is valid, I don't know what others are getting. Not a common discussion of drops except for leg's or uniques. I appreciate your observation and will test it when I get to my game computer after work.

    :Second post:

Trak, I tried to replicate the no drop problem you're explaining trying to figure out if there was a certain condition it happened in. I could not. I ran in two different guild groups. One with 2 rangers and a DK, one with 3 rang and a SW. I explained what I was testing and what to tell me about. In all conditions and locations I got drops from their thicket and they got them from mine. And im not talking about copper. I got colored items, realm frags, event beets, and even 2 Mystic cubes that dropped directly from exploding mobs with crossbones over their heads. These were all from other group member thickets, not my own. From their reports they were getting drops similar. We ran Grotto PW and HOD. We did an event run also but I don't trust the results cause its all event drops and wrapped in pretty green or blue boxes:confused: But we all got similar drops there also. Don't know what to say except maybe you should test it again yourself with people you trust to give you accurate info. Works as advertised for me and all I group with, so ill stick with the thicket and the 300% explosion the mobs create.

It's a good combo. My personal preference is to use Hunting Trap in lieu of Net. It helps me redirect the mobs and to save a little bit of concentration for the extra punch. For someone who's base dmg is mediocre compared to you monsters, HT is probably the best choice over using Net. However, I do throw a Net in the HT+T+P mix if there is an excessive pack of mobs.

This. Saves Con in every angle.

You could conjure your beasts to deflect projectiles when youre the one tanking/leading the group.

Net if you are slow or solo. Otherwise just Thorn.

For me personally, I watch my concentration more than my health. You need to practice running your health low and keeping your concentration high. This involves knowing when to instantly flip between Precision Shot and Deadly Blow with the tap of a [Tab] key while injecting a hunting arrow as necessary. If you do this, you can then time Adrenaline appropriately. Think ahead of encountering the mob waves and try to make sure all the cool downs are over so that when you approach the next wave, your Thorns are ready. Think ahead. Think and never panic. As long as you know where your mouse arrow is at, fly by wire and watch your skill bar closely for cool downs and concentration levels. That's the way I've played for years.

For narrow PVE maps like POS:
Definitely Traps and fold back a tad out of the mob.

For wide open PVE maps like Ocean:
If you are in a combo with another ranger, coordinate by either using crossing thorns at 90 angles or alternate thorn skills. When you start playing with the same crew, you'll improve your group choreography.

I am still getting only copper. :D
Maybe it is my account ... maybe it is bugged.
