First of all, Happy New Year, brothers! Long time no see...

Straight to the point. Some time ago I received an e-mail about R139, but didn't bother with it. Today I decided to check the forum and I saw the patchnotes for this R139. It sounds good. BUT... from my experience with BP, they almost NEVER do anything to benefit the player without the player losing something in return, a loss that can be easily repaired or compensated with the players money. So, I ask you, the old players that are still here, what's the trick with R139 (and R140 for that matter)? Cuz' I'm pretty sure they give with one hand and take with the other.

Basically they exchanged a cost to ID (cots), with a cost to combine gear (gold or andermant).
To create a legendary item from 4 extraordinary items it now costs either 98gold or 4,000 ander.

It encourages players to buy premium, since premium players receive Mysterious cube drops from monsters, which can be sold for 5gold each. Farming m2 for example and selling all gear and cubes will get you 100 gold in 1 or 2 hours probably.

The other option is with the Jesters, gambling thing in Kingshill. You can offer 40ander or 200 ander and you can get gold commonly, in drops of 5, 25 and 50 (or higher with luck).

Overall I'd say its less work than grinding out cots but more beneficial to P2P. However getting legendary or Unique drops whilst farming are much more rewarding, since it's a free ID.

    Hi Warmaster666,

Since you read the patchnotes of R139, there isn't much to say...because nothing has changed for the F2P class(it only got worse), as for the P2P class it got whole lot easier (especially low paying class).

They removed CoT's to give you the illusion that you don't need to grind for hours just to ID 1 item and know comes the "Illusion" part...if you're a F2P(like myself) you will have to make a choice you either grind for gold, gear or GoP, but you can't have it all like before.

To craft just 1 legendary item lvl 45, you need 100 gold coins and from what i read in the forum 95% is junk.

They reduced the value of gear, now you have to grind 5x more for the same amount of gold.

They increased the value of GoP needed to upgrade new gear, not the old ones you already have, ex - new low lvl staff now needs well over 250 million GoP.

They also added more types of enchantments to gear, so you won't get what you really need...now you can get damage on head, pauldrons and torso gear, speed in gloves and reduced the probability of getting block-rate/damage reduction in a shield/orb/buckler.

The dev team claims to have increased the drop of legendary items by 100% in normal PvE and 200% PW, but that is not true...before the R139 i would get 1 legendary item in every 3 to 5 runs in any dungeon, almost 2 months later so far i only got 3 of them and all at crypt of kings for a lvl 37 SW....as for PW, yes it might be true, because i got 1 legendary in every 2 to 3 runs, before i would only get 1 every 5 to 9 runs.

If you buy the new premium you will become OP in 2 or 3 months, the perks are truly insane.
Overall the gap/line between the F2P and P2P got so huge that you no longer can see the line...the line is a dot.

The only good news, is that probably it will be my last year playing DSO, because there is a new heavy-weight coming this year, the majority of Diablo 3 fans already call it the "Diablo Killer" and from what i saw...it won't kill only Diablo.

These are my conclusion of the R139 and I had already stopped playing DSO, now i only login and play events, so i suggest that you play just for day and draw your own conclusions, perhaps you have better luck than i had.

P.S. - Almost forgot....Happy new year to you too!!!

If you go onto the forums of the "other" games you'll find that about once per month someone posts that whatever new game coming out will kill the game... It's been the same old story regurgitated on these forums for years...

All of these games suffer from the same line of thought.. Endless grinding, unbalanced and not enough gear drops... DSO isn't any different.

Will the next game be the "killer" ????????????????? Who knows, until a game developer decides to truly listen to the gaming community I highly doubt it...

Once upon a time you could find decent low level gear to build your toon in Swerdfield but this is no longer the case with each new update. Crafting was a crap shoot before but now you have to pay for the "roll" with GOLD. So at level 17 my SW toon would have to pay almost 50 gold to craft a Legendary which would be most likely garbage in the end. I'm not sure if they are aware of time required in collecting 50 gold at level 17 but it takes a fug of a longtime unless of course you bugged the crap out of higher levels to farm for you.

    Bring back "FREE" crafting...

Like you said ... it is a trick. A dirty one.
They practically ... increased the grinding while claiming they have reduced it.

Thank you guys for your answers. I get it. They replaced the stupid endless mind-numbing grind for CoTs with even more stupid endless mind-numbing grind for gold. Typical BP.

But this: "They practically ... increased the grinding while claiming they have reduced it." bwahahahaha. BP lied, and this lie shows that BP has absolutely no respect for players. They probably severely underestimate our IQ.

Anyway, I won't be returning to DSO yet. I think this game had/has a lot of potential, but these greedy monkeybrain devs keep messing it up. Such a waste...
