how important is to play on recommended server?

my recommended server is grimmag but i dont play there because i have friends on tegan, so my question is does recommeded server have bigger drop chance of uniques? because my luck on tegan is very bad so im starting to think that is a cause of my bad luck with uniques,,

Different servers have no effect in unique's drop-rate...it's more likely old accounts to have lower drop-rate over new ones.
I have played in all 6 servers and got unique's in all of them, but today (3 years later) i rarely get any unique.

Also to increase your chance to obtain a unique item, go always solo!!!

 

Recommended server is important for two things:
1. It is nearest server to your location ... meaning ... playing on Tegan will cause you greater lag instead of playing on Grimmag.
2. Since it is closest to your location you can find more players that are speaking your native language. You can communicate with the players easier.

 

I had never thought about this, makes sense to me, I play solo more than in party because I get more done and get better drops,
most of the good unique's I have, I found solo, It has only been event unique's that have dropped mostly in party.
I also get more quest drops solo, q1 is a good example I use 2 life rings and most of the quests drops for the items I got doing solo.
This may be because the mob's are easier much faster to kill and with out the drag factor of other players. The players in my own guild do not drag me down but pick up party's can be a pain

 

The sever suggestion is based on you time setting of your computer. If you change your time settings to Pacific Time you will get Tegan for your recommended server.

 

Why do programmers always get Christmas and Halloween mixed up?

Last Holliday for pagan calendar is Halloween and the last for the julian calendar is Christmas.

 

Not necessarily. I'm in California and have my time zone is Pacific Standard Time and do not get Tegan as recommended even though I play on that server.

 

Same, I'm Alaska time zone(one hour past Pacific) and it still recommends Agathon.

 

I get Agathon as well, here in Washington state

 

Same for me ... I am West coast and East coast server is recommended ... lol Sad when the game company wont even recommend a server thats closest to you. poor tegan, the ugly step child of DSO .. LOLOLOL

Time settings got nothing to do with the recommendation.
It is the location. How do we obtain the location ... by using IP address.
Tegan and Agathon are at the same location. (just like the European servers are located at same location)



Additionally other preferences have part of making "recommendation" (this is only my logical guess) ... like chosen language.
Or they have pre-organized the countries by servers.
