I can't even spell most of their names and get them right in the first place.
How do people quickly send you a PM in the middle of a battle?
Is there a shortcut or something?

If they are on your map you can Ctrl + left click on them. Select whisper and proceed.

No, I am not talking about replying.
I know that it is possible for me to reply by clicking on the message that I receive.
But, how do they first send me a PM?

That Ctrl + click thing never works for me. The menu comes up and then disappear. I can easily spend the whole battle time trying to click the player, trust me.

BigPapa, are you trying to get me killed in the mid-battle now? :D (J/K)

I can understand people doing the Ctrl+click thing inside the town, but how do they quickly send me a PM in the heat of the battle is bewildering to me.

They may just be faster at Ctrl+Click than you, or maybe they use the social menu and select your name because you are on the same map as them and PM you while they are all the way on the other side of the map, or maybe they Ctrl+Click on you after you or they die so that they have a couple seconds while responding to type... the possibilities are endless. The simple fact that they are doing it proves that it can be done, you just have to be clever enough to come up with a way to do it yourself (preferably without getting killed, I'm sure).

Personally, one of my favorite taunts to type is when I have a runner, someone who can't kill me, but won't sit still long enough for me to end the fight quickly. "It will all be over sooner if you just stand still!" Another favorite is when I kill them and I see that they were using a buff (particularly if they didn't have one the first time I killed them). "Nice buff. I see it was money well spent." Personally, finding the time to type these little blurbs makes the monotony of PvP a little less... well, monotonous. From time to time I tick them off and they say all sorts of not nice words at me.:D Other times, it starts a conversation that ends with a mutual respect bordering on friendship.

I find in match taunting boring and childish. Unlike PVE, PVP seems to bring out the worst behavior in people. As an example, taunters that like to do the laughing emote on your corpse - very classy. Many people in my Guild make it a point to compliment the winning opposition.

I respectfully suggest you take your pot and buff comments and direct them to DSO. I think a direct question to Greg on Twitch would be perfect. "So Greg, is POT in PVP fair?" The answer would of course be yes. So the entire discussion about 'fair' and 'honor' in a mmorpg is like trying to find the meaning of life in Cave PW. It's a game people.

Nothing annoys me more than a tidal wave of in PVP match spam. You may like to do it to 'shake up' the mindset; I personally find it upsetting and hypocritical. While I choose never-ever-to-buff in PVP and do choose to pot in PVP; it is the same folks that complain about that who rely upon you to carry them in Events or on Boss runs. SO - here it is. Look at the Pot. Take some time, yep, take your time. As you hover your mouse button over it; you will notice it has a PVP cooldown. That tells you (FACT) that the developers made an intentional effort to introduce it into PVP. It isn't there by mistake. Also notice you can place the pot directly onto the skill bar (FACT). So here we have people grumbling about potting when it is there both by intentional DSO design and it is also technically a skill. It is a choice and I would never dream of screaming to someone in match to do-or-not-do something with every advantage they could muster. If I had an option to throw sand in the eyes of the opposition, I would. Now, back to urban. So these same babies in Urban cry when you engage them on this topic. Somehow it is OK to taunt in PVP but if you are in urban it is supposed to be hugs-and-kisses. Stop it!

In closing, Pot in PVP is by design and is fair is a divisive argument that I will not tolerate. If anyone feels different, please be sure never to ask for help with your Events, PW, or Boss runs where it seems to be just fine to carry you. OR, choose to take all skills off your skill bar and impress all of us with PVP totally naked.

I think we are going off topic. However, my take on the topic is pretty much similar to DesertKoala.

If I have pots, I do not hesitate to use them in PvP matches. After all, the only place that I ever have a need to use pots and the only reason why I would save pots to use later is to use them in PvP matches.

I treat everyone in the arena with respect, I simply ignore people who call me nasty things.

I sometimes would lilke to give good comments to people who shows skill in the arena. They inspire me and sometimes I learn tricks from them.

Sometimes the language is a barrier of course. We don't understand each other, yet we exchange few sentences and assume that the other person said something nice :p

I use Pots in pvp when the other team does; I rarely ever need them but when I do its usually when I'm trying to take down a potting flag runner with the flag in his base.

I almost never need pots for mortis and don't do destructor.

Hit 'f' when in arena (or anywhere else for that matter) to open list of players on the map. If the list is too short, hit the refresh button.
