Yeah, if you wanted a 2H sword, you should have crafted 4 extraordinary 2H swords. Blind (or semiblind) crafting can be frustrating.

Yeah I knew that I had a 25% chance of getting a hammer, but it took weeks just get 3 exo swords so I allowed myself to lose some patience. I went in knowing that more than likely I would waste 100 gold, but overall it is kind of a toss up for a temp weapon. It isn't so bad that I automatically melted it or so good that swapping would be a no brainer.

I played with the 2h hammer a bit today finishing up the event and through a run in hod and the addition of the little dmg increase and 10% crit makes a slight difference but not huge. I've been playing at 1,10 speed for weeks now, and only got the boost in speed yesterday, so if I were to switch to the hammer going back to 1,10 wouldn't be any different than what I'm used to.

Both weapons have 3 slots, so no loss that way either.

One major downside to the hammer is that upgrading is expensive. Going from 45 to 46 is over 1 million gops. With the sword, going from 46 to 47 is only a bit over 300K.

Either weapon is still a temporary solution until a really good one drops or can be crafted, but I would love some opinions on what experienced players would do in my situation.

Would you take a little more speed and lower dmg/crit or take the dmg/crit and give up speed?

Edit to show compared stats with rubies added: It's a 200+ jump in dmg.

this is what i do i add min and max damage divide by 2 and x attacks per sec. if critcal hit changes and cric damage changes its more complicated. i cant post now how i do it because my partner is using a chainsaw to cut fire wood and i cant concentrate.

Well finally crafted a sword and while it did have 3 lines of increased dmg, that was the only okay part of it :D

Off to melt, while the quest to find a good one continues.

Thats terrible luck.... even the weapon enhanced damage lines are too low....

Yep, but at least it's heading in the right direction, although with the random factor that doesn't really indicate that the next time I'll hit the crafting lottery.

As always, it's one step forward and two steps back.

I finally found some new temporary shoulders to improve my armor a bit but gave up a lot of resist. So now I'm back to 40% resist, but ultimately I'll be using the Warlord shoulders and wouldn't have been able to keep that resist anyway. So I'm preparing for the future and I figured that I might as well get used to the resist drop now.

I've also given up 2% crit for more dmg. I still have 52% crit, so that one didn't hurt my feelings all that much. Depending on when I can farm Mortis enough times to get my 2nd ring of death, I'll be darn near 1300 in max dmg with average stats on the ring.

Also lost a smidge of hp, but that will be made up as soon as I upgrade my torso one more time.

All in all, my build still requires finding a better weapon, but I'm gaining ground slowly but surely. Today is day 53, so I'm quite happy with my progress so far. :p

As far as 2h weapons go, it is not terrible. You have nice crit so that 600 crit line is not too interesting for you, but for a lot of 2H builds, that 600 crit would be very helpful. Also, while three lines of % weapon damage could theoretically get up to 80% a line (for 150%-240%, lol!) 93% weapon damage is not too bad. With some decent gems it would be rather nice.

Got my first ever 2h leg drop. Lousy dmg stats of course, but now I can say that they do indeed drop. Now I just need to have a good one drop :D

    What Baragain said:
Why first ever 2H leg. drop? Are those previous screens yours or you don't count them because they were crafted?

Do you not consider how getting gear is different? If someone loves your (whatever leg item) and asks where did you get it and you crafted it, what do you tell people?

When I asked others in game about crafting I was told not to waste the time/gold and just wait for one to drop. So after posting my crafting attempts here on the forum, I was told once again to just wait for one to drop. My response had always been, I've never seen one drop so why not try crafting? Well a 2h leg finally dropped yesterday. While I didn't doubt that it was possible for a leg 2h to drop, I had just never seen one pop up after killing a monster or come out of a chest.

    Listen to the people! :D
You will only spend your gold and getting nothing in return.
As for the first question ... I predicted it. You can check in producers dialogue thread.

I agree with Trakilaki, crafting is an expensive process. I personally prefer to spend that gold on jesters (also a bad choice I admit lol but I like to try my luck once a while). Level 50 is coming, your current gear will most likely become obsolete. I don't recommend spending excessive amount of gold crafting.

At this moment in time, I don't have anything else to spend gold on except crafting. I know that some enjoy the gambling at the jesters, but I prefer to gamble at the casino.

I have done a couple of the cloak quests (up to the 100 gold) and since my goal is the Warlord set, I see no need to complete the 1000 gold quest at this point in time.

As to whether my current gear will become obsolete or not, that may very well turn out to be true, but I've not seen any official news about major gear updates or new offerings or a time line on when that will happen so right now I have to work with what I have.

Gold isn't all that hard to farm (if you sell versus melt). In the past couple of weeks I've crafted 5 times and found 1 leg 2h. So if I waited for one to drop, how long would it take? A week, a month, a year? Now based on simple numbers my odds are better with crafting. 5 or more crafting attempts per drop seems like a no brainer to me.

If someone can give me a better alternative for my gold than attempted crafting I am all ears.

    Save it for level 50.

Granted that sounds very good on paper. A level 50 weapon "should" be better than a lvl 45. However that requires me to continue with below average dmg until the new maps open and whatever possible new gear shows up and until I get leveled up. I also have to consider that "random luck" will still play a major factor in gear drops even at lvl 50. Plus who knows what changes may be put in place on enchantments. Apparently they have changed/altered them before and according to most threads here on the forum, not always for the best, so waiting for a new expansion doesn't necessarily guarantee a better result.

My current build (which isn't superior by any means) only lacks dmg to be respectable. I have 63% armor, 53% crit, 43% resist but only 970-1300 ish dmg. If luck were on my side and I could boost my dmg by 400 or so (easily possible with the right weapon) now all of the sudden my ability to farm hod becomes so much faster and I would stand a legit chance of actually killing Mortis solo before the 1000 ghosts get into the circle. I can stand toe to toe with him now, I just can't kill him. Damage would solve that issue, allowing me another option in farming for gear.

Probably best to melt everything you get, and save the gold for later or spend it on crafting 2hs if you really want to. It is possible to get a godly 2h from craft but requires a lot of luck. It's high stakes and crafting is expensive.

Personally, I'm saving all my gold, drakens and (other currency/essence, etc.) for level 50 expansion. Saves the trouble of farming everything back again later :)

I'm would be and am saving or gambling my gold. No point in crafting at the moment as I have good enough stuff and level 50 is around the corner.

And if you were in my position and lacking a decent weapon what would you be doing? Would you simply wait for one to drop or increase your odds and add crafting in order to maybe improve?

It's a ton easier to say "be patient" when you aren't the one that severely lacks the gear.

The best way to improve in this game is to farm, and the faster you can farm, the faster you can improve. Without damage my farming time is extended greatly. I've gotten to the point where I rarely die, but it still takes a long time to clear HOD solo.

The next obvious statement would be to run with groups. Again this makes total sense when you can find groups to run with, but that isn't always the easiest thing to do. PVP seems to be a little more active now and most people I see are doing that while it is active. Luckily I can run the maps solo even if it is slow, but in order to improve I need a weapon and without it no matter what else I improve upon it won't make a huge difference without it.

This is offtopic, but I feel the root of the problem is that besides heredur/grimmag servers, the other servers are quite dead/absent of players. It's an mmo afterall, and if you check during various times of the day by logging on different servers and check amount of groups at kinghill (as 1 example), it gets quite depressing unless you play on those aforementioned 2 servers. It is hard to find pickup groups, for new players to play with other new players. There is a sense of "brotherhood" when struggling through a difficult map together. That is missing on the rest of the servers, or much lower in comparison. The old / elite players usually group with themselves or solo, and as a new player grouping with them, it feels more like a charity case and really boring in my opinion. Same thing with pvp when you're faced with the same 10 players all the time. Currently it stands at 45, farm HoD or do a few boss runs or fight the same players in pvp.

I don't know. I feel that a server change should be implemented and dead/dying servers removed. This game is certainly not as popular as before (3 years ago). Or somehow need a influx of new players on the other servers.

Ontopic: yea, craft the 2h. Not much else to do anyways besides stocking up on resources and hope expansion don't disappoint. Expect your gears to become obsolete in the future though. And also, if you're not level 40 pvp, try and get that before the expansion. It's another thing to look forward to.

    Next question.

A lot of people are suggesting that I go for the witch set (assuming I can actually get it) and I've been playing with the numbers and it doesn't seem to add up for my current build, but maybe I am missing something, so I figured that I would ask here.

The witch set (max) would give me 802 armor, 444 Hp, and another roughly 130 in dmg. 33 max per item + 22,2% max for set plus any gems added. Of course if I had a really good weapon, the bonus in the witch set could be significant, but if I had a really good weapon my current stats wouldn't be that bad.

Currently my helmet, shoulders and torso give me 1572 armor and 1529 hp.

That seems like a major loss of armor and hp just for a little max dmg (given my current weapon).

I currently rely heavily on my armor, hp and resist in order to survive long enough to kill the monsters as my dmg is still half of what I need.

I can't seem to wrap my head around how switching my current gear with the witch set without finding a really good weapon will make a significant difference.

So, am I mistaken in my thinking? Can gear significantly make up for a lousy weapon?
