Sooo, lets adress the elephant in the room: Hammer, Sword or Axe?

The answer is simple, they all do the same damage. BP actually did their math right this time.

-Hammers do about 10% more in total damage if you have some good bonuses (Pet, Torso, Dragan set)

-Swords do about 10% more speed, which is only helpfull if you use standard attacks a lot (PVP). Careful here, BP secretly changed the speeds of some rage skills. So better try it first.

-Axes do about 10% more critical chance, provided you dont have a crit build going on.

So I would recommend swords for PVP players and hammers or axes for PVE to save essence. Since the new rage meter changes, smash is going to be less common anyway and dragons fury is not based on speed. So DPI means even less for DKs than it did before.

Pink weapons are now sometimes on par with leg items, especially hammers and axes. The reason for that is that most players can only buy 1 upgrade for 2h leg weapons but several for pink ones.
Dont believe it? Have a look at a very average pink hammer with moderate amount of glyphs:

Which reads as a "Double handed, double handed axe" So basically you need four hands and should try to sharpen it, good hammer.

No problem. Everyone has to learn sometime.
But now that I see it, it is an interesting weapon, but not worth it due to the recent crit nerf... Even a 200% crit damage weapon is nothing compared to a good pure damage DPS weapon these days. You can thank the developers "Balancing" for that.

I once used this thread to chronicle my many failures on the way to finding a decent LVL 45 2H Legendary Sword. Time to do likewise now that LVL 50 is here.

Thoughts: I don't mind one high crit line. It keeps the crit respectable. Sure, I'd rather have damage or % damage, but I wouldn't complain about a little crit. However, with no damage, low % damage, and crit damage (absolutely useless), this is just the first of many useless LVL 50 2H Legendaries.

People are moving away from crit builds. I think you'll need 5500ish crit at level 50 to crit 50% of the time. How much crit do you have?

I could reach around 45% critical rate, with max damages around 2,5k, but with 377% critical damage. I think for farming purposes it should be better than a plain damage build, shouldn't it?

    Here is a new record.
With it, I discovered something... +300% Crit damage from items is the max you can get for a total of +400% damage on a crit, or 5x more damage than your base damage.
This picture is with a total of 322.7% Crit damage from items.

Now why couldn't that have been 4x weapon damage lines... :(

It is hard to put this into words, but I'd probably take the axe. If you plan to PvP, the sword would be better for the speed, but in PvE, you would have better DPH (Damage Per Hit) which is better for conserving essence. The other advantage of the axe is the price to upgrade... sooooooo much cheaper than a legendary.
