I was thinking of a new class entering DSO, something new that gives a whole new perspective to DSO in both PVE and PVP. Something like a support class. So in battle, instead of being like all of the other classes (dealing damage and fighting enemies head on) this class would support the other players by maybe providing beneficial aura's or casting skills that improve Armor, Block rate, resistance, damage, and maybe even HP regeneration. And instead of having lots and lots of damage, make this class very tank heavy (maybe even more than DK) and set the damage very low. Anyways, this is just an idea so let me know what you all think :)

Problem with a support class is that a lot times players need to go solo.

While an interesting concept, I have to agree with Novadude. It would be a big problem leveling up at a decent pace if you can only play well with the assistance of another player.

Totally agree with Novadude. This game punishes grouping, so creating a class that relies on it would be counter-productive.

I have often wished for a healer, but I agree with you, that it would be hard to have a healing class. Perhaps we could have another guardian, similar to the Guardian of Fire, but a Guardian of Healing, that would cast healing spells on the players for a limited time.

Much like a very old RPG that had a Cleric class that could use limted weapons, had the ability to heal and some decent offensive spells.

Who are we kidding though as they can't even put together an event without bugs let alone the complexities of adding a new class.

In the last Twitch, almost sure, they said not a healer class for DSO however I like your idea. Priest always was one of my favorite in MMORPG games after warrior and wizard, offering support and healing, when enemies attack he can defend himself with blessing and shadows.

In my opinion, a better approach would be to give every class team buffs. The DK has one, extra HP for the team from Battle Frenzy. The dwarf has the stun protection from their Tesla Turrets. But if this system was expanded with more skills and even more useful ones, maybe given its own skills page with points earned while fighting in a team, then it would be game changing in a good way.

There is so much room for improvement that can be achieved before adding yet another class that I really can't recommend anything regarding a new class until BP gets their heads out of their SELF-EDIT and start paying attention to the things that the players are desperately telling them that this game needs.

I wish there would be such a class as it would promote team play a bit more, but for this to work, nerfing of current block rate armor and resistance would be required so that the blessings/spell of the cleric would actually be needed and i don't think such complexity and balance is something BP is currently capable of.

This kind of class is doomed to failure and misery ... since it will depend on other classes ... and playing solo is almost impossible.

    Yup, that's why i said

Usually in games with such support classes, using that class in a group makes a huge difference in make you more willing to go in a group.

They nerfed the crit. rate already, and we somewhat recovered, but now the last thing we need is for them to screw up more of our stats. And a new class, for that expense, is not worth it (they'd be reliant on us, we'd be reliant for them... and thus solo gameplay would be ruined... grouping would be iffy, since you either play with trusted people at precise and limited times when you're all online or go with randoms - case in which you'll lose half of the time assembling the party for an unsure rate of success). In any case, I believe they did say that the next class would be some rogue/ninja/hunter, with double-wield weapons (like a two-headed spear)... something of the sort is what they have in mind. Support, while a good idea, would be a pain in the bottom... and probably very, very few people would play it.

yup, thats why i said we would need to rebalance all classes to make the support class have any significance, which ,as we know BP could screw up the balance even more :p

And as for the people who would play that class.. i would love to(I always loved these classes). :D

About that new upcoming melee class,i dont like the idea, it would wield elemental weapons (as from the twitch session ) and usually such classes(rogue or so) don't have high armor but an entirely different defensive stat; evasion. Now that scares me cause it means a new mechanics and we all know what happens when a mechanic is implemented XD

A "healer class" was already discussed in the last twitch, and on some of the previous ones if I remember correctly, and also disregarded for some of the resons stated above, mainly:

I come from another game that had a "healer class" and this was the exact case for all of them.

Also here you have a list of bugs that includes some regarding our existing classes..., made back on July 2014, some of those bugs (if not all) still exist and new ones that are not listed there, that's how good BP manages their existing classes, if it depended on me, I would even pull back the release of the "rogue" class, how could I trust on them delivering a new class providing their incapability of fixing the existing ones? o_O

I just thought of something that could potentially counteract the need to be in a group while keeping a healing class in the running. What if they could take health from their enemies, but to balance it so they wouldn't be too powerful, they would be unable to use health potions. I mean take a huge amount of health from their enemies, not like the usual health regaining talents. Just a thought...

I mean take a huge amount of health from their enemies, not like the usual health regaining talents. That would give them a way to be able to stand on their own but be great in a group too. Perhaps one talent could be a sort of group health share? Just a thought...

Nowadays nobody will actively adopt a priest/cleric/healer/support class as leading class for his own account.
Will be only a short-time experience to discover some new features and the life of such a class in this kind of game will be at the end.
No pvp chances to ramp up; boring gameplay, since your skills are limited to support, but really ... to get fun you NEED to actively crash mobs and bosses, look for the truth into yourself ;)

The only way to implement a PURE cleric class is to build the option for a bot-companion that acts with you with some AI system. As already existing in other games, and obviously this will be a pure copy-paste from others.
But it will be another step towards a solo-gameplay (with your systembot-companion healer).
