I wanted to explain crafting 2.0 to a SM friend. Thought i might as well paste the explanation in case anyone might find it useful. I have used @Armando spreadsheet that calculates the probabilty of crafting an item with desirable enchantments based on ingredients found here . For a more detailed explanation of crafting, read @_Baragain_'s crafting posts..

Before the patch, crafting was mostly random. You were able to control the outcome a little by choosing ingredients of the same time, e.g 4 shields would garunteed a shield be crafted. With 2.0, not only can the item type be targetted, but the values of the shield can also be crafted. So if i used 4 legendary shields as ingredients, and each shield has 100 hp, 100 armor, 100 resistance, 0.5 block strength; it is possible to craft a shield that has 4 lines of 100 resistance; 400 in total. Therefore, crafting 2.0 can be used to create amazing items, such as an amulet with 40% Health amulet. Sockets are now also averaged across the ingredients and rounded up, such that if the total amount of sockets of the ingredients is 14, 14 sockets divided by 4 ingredients is 3.5, rounded up the crafted item will have 4 sockets.

But there is a catch. Using Armandos chart, the chances of getting a perfect item are low. The first two items you put in can be kept if you dont like the crafted item which helps, but realise that when you craft, you are likely to fail.

Taking this into account, there are two methods to craft. 1st method is to put 2 good ingredients only, and keep crafting possibly 100s of times till you get the desired result, or use 4 good items, knowing that 2 items will be destroyed.

A magic item has 2 enchantment lines. An extraordinary item has 3 lines. When crafting from magic to extraordinary, only 2 lines will be inherited, the 3rd line will be randomly generated.

I now use both methods. If i find a magic (blue) necklace with 9.5% health, i will hold onto it till i find another similar item to put in ingredient spot 2. The 3rd and 4th spots will be amulets with enchantments that i dont care about in the crafted extraordinary. Since they are junk items, it is good to find items that have extra sockets, or to buy sockets such that the total sockets of all ingredients is either 2, 6, 10, 14, or 18. If i am using 2 magical amulets each with 9.5% health as ingredients, from Armando's chart the probability of crafting the desired extraordinay amulet with 2 lines is 3.57%, meaning i would have to on average craft and revert 28 times. It is very unlikely.

However, what if you find a neclakce that has 8% hp or even 7%? That isnt worth spending all that time crafting to get a 14% hp necklace but it isnt worth selling either. These items can be used for method 2 of crafting. Using this method, crafting an extraordinary item that has 2 good lines from 4 blue items with 1 good line gives a 21.43% chance. If you then use 4 extraordinary items with 2 good lines each, you have a 25.45% chance of crafting a legendary with 3 good lines. If you then craft 3 more such legendaries, you then have a 27% chance to craft a legendary with 4 lines. If you get a legendary with 2 good lines, if its better than your current gear, keep it, otherwise just revert it so you still have 2 extraordinary ingredients you can use for crafting. Even with this method, there will be lots of fails, and many many crafts to get the desired result.

It isnt worth trying to craft a legendary with 3 lines of hp, because they drop often in parrellel world fatal runs. Given how much space it takes to collect the ingredients for crafting, its best to choose what you want to craft and which gold items you will put in the warehouse for later.

The items you should look out for are 2h with % damage of above 60 one line, amulet with 8%+ hp, torso with 8%+ damage, gloves with 8%+ attack speed. I also look out for boots, shields and 1h that have gold lines, but i wont craft them till i have got the other things. Blue items are the best ingredients. If you are collecting green items, remember to collect green items with 4 or 3 sockets to use in the junk slots. Sort out your inventory however you please, but i put any items that i am likely to craft soon on the last page of my inventory (page 5) and the stuff that i not likely to craft anytime soon such as items with 2 good lines, or gold lines in my warehouse or at the next available spot.

Just remember you are likely to fail, and if you craft 4 extraordinaries each with 1 good line hoping to craft a legendary with 3 inherited lines, you would be very lucky. If you get 2 inherited lines, keep it instead of reverting thinking you will get 3 lines if you craft again, and try and craft legendary-legendary.

I am just picky I guess. My % weapon damage line goals these days are 75%+, 9% damage on a torso, gloves with 9% attack speed, amulets/belts/decorations with 15%+ Crit damage... that sort of thing.

Just remember, method 2 requires a lot more items with good stats which are often the hardest part of this process. If you have the ability to farm gold fast, you can use more gold to overcome the difficulty of finding those good lines using method 1.

@_Baragain_ I find it funny that gold lines are no longer good enough for you :D. As for method 1, maybe thats in fact what im doing. I am only crafting when my inventory space gets full, and i am saving the gold lined items for method 1. Kinda makes sense to do both methods since method 2 can use items you wouldnt normally use for method 1, such as 8% attack speed gloves.

Going off topic, i read what you said in the ask CM thread about fatal bosses. I ask most people to wait outside Heredur, particularly dks because they often die as a damage dealer since they get close. I am curious to how fast you can kill heredur. It is probably something we shouldnt talk about, kinda asking to be nerfed. I hope the people realise nerfing "us" will hurt the weaker players more because we will still be strong enough to kill bosses effectively.

So anyways, how fast can you kill heredur solo? How about with a tank? Time it from when you first hit it till it dies if you are interested. Thanks.

    The rest I'll answer later.

Neither. Is is the average of all the levels. I this case, the average is 46.

@_Baragain_ We probably shouldnt have compared our heredur times because dwarfs can completely ignore their defenses at this particular boss. I have 4k health at the boss. We use tesla to protect ourselves from ice bombs. Q4 is kind of a joke for us because even with 11k+ health we get 1 hitted by the lightning strike, maybe its different now since i havent done q4 in a while.

While your solo time is much faster than my solo time since mine would be "did not finish", i was expecting more since your gear is that good. Probably evidence that the dk should be buffed instead of nerfed but i don't see that happening. Instead the dwarf will get a massive nerf to make it fair for the classes.

When I was on test server with the original version of Crafting 2.0, I used my huge amounts of gold (190k) and was able to make my ideal DK. That DK was able to solo Heredur with reds in 1:20, so there is room for improvement.

I rewrote it, since someone reading didnt understand it. Hopefully it makes more sense now.
