I think there are many who are disappointed on the jury in this contest

Images that were not good enough...

"Plagiarism will not get you far!"

Im just really dissapionted and dont see the point in doing these competitions if the DSO team are not going to care about even trying to do it fairly

but that is just my opinion

 

I don't use much FB and I don't care about those competitions ... but I really like that second design (island).

What is so special about those two? ... Flowers and "rainbow"?

 

And I'm assuming those two (which are good and deserved at least one of the honorable mentions), are totally "plagiarism" free? (That was sarcasm there.) I'm sure that they didn't use some built in effects filter to achieve those looks and did it totally by hand in Photoshop (or other image program) with nothing but the original image as a layer that they used for tracing purposes with their stylus. (More sarcasm.) I'm also sure that they painted the backgrounds or the wood texture freehand too. (Big surprise, still sarcasm.)

The truth is that it was a 100% subjective competition and those didn't tickle the judges fancy. It is reasons like this that I do feel like a fan choice category is appropriate in these "events" so that then people couldn't complain as much when they didn't get the votes they wanted or felt that they deserved. Also, when I went back and looked at the entries, I didn't even see the second one, so how could it have won when it wasn't even there?
