Here is a good starting point for how to build a 2H DK in the form of a guide that I wrote about 4 months ago. It could use some updating to reflect Crafting 2.0 and a couple new items in the recent releases, but it gives you a good starting point.

Its flexible. Only real mandatory skill selection is the 5 point talent on mighty wild swing for reheal.

I have all 3 telents selected for rageful swing and all 3 talents selected for mighty wild swing and pretty much just use rageful swing and mighty wild swing. I also have the 3 and 5 point talents selected for both smash and for banner of war.

If I'm doing one of the bosses such as a pw boss which usually doesn't have another monster in the room, I typically just switch all my talent selections from from rageful swing to rage attack.

Hi there, like to share for a bit.

First of all I know you want insight from a pro, or may I call them veterans, I'm not one of them.
But I always seek their insight in every part of being a 2h dk. Thx to them I have 2h DK that I very much enjoy to play.

Meanwhile waiting veterans post something in your thread. I suggest to read DK sub forum, there are a lot of valuable information in there. Some in form of guide, some as 1 or 2 sentences good opinion. And I think with only reading DK sub forum all of your questions will get answered.

Nova gave you some good advice. The only talent that is mandatory to be able to pull off a 2H DK well is the 5 point skill in MWS for HP regen. 2H DKs are usually light on the defense and that HP regen is critical to staying alive. From there, your skill choices should follow your play style.

Here are my skill points and skill bar. You should not take these as the only way to build a DK. In fact, it should only be a starting point. For example, I don't use Charge, but there are many DKs who rely on it heavily. I also don't use any skill points for Furry of the Dragon, but other DKs love the slowing effect or the mini stun to control mobs some. I get enough rage from taking hits that I usually don't need rage, so I don't waste points on skills that would give me rage for my basic swing or rage for a kill with Smash.

My recommendation to you is to go to an area a couple levels lower and just play around with these skills to get a feel of how all of them work and then you can figure out how best to use them against higher monsters.

Thank you. Im wonder which build is consider okay for f2p like me with lesser effort.. I am not familiar with the event thingy n such so i just stick to quest n forgo all the event thing like many not. i only got normal eq and i melted the splendid set that i acquire from quest n boss. is it a bad move? if 1h build is better for f2p then what skill build should i go with?

The Splendid Durian set is not that useful once you pass LVL 30 or 35. Same with the Norslands set once you pass 40. With all seriousness, it isn't a big deal that you've skipped over events because, until you reach the level cap, LVL 50, you'd just have to replace that unique gear that you got. A 1H build is probably easier to start with because it improves your survivability. In fact, 2H doesn't even become a good idea until you get the 5 point skill for Mighty Wild Swing. Until then, if you work as a 1H DK and find groups that need a tank, you'll not run into anything that you shouldn't be able to handle with relative ease.

so u mean i shall slowly change to 1h dk balance type? and if 1h dk means the MWS wont need to put skill point to it right? what skill build should 1h dk should go?

MWS is still helpful for a 1H DK because it is still necessary to regen HP since getting last hits for HP spheres is tough when you don't have good damage. The difference is that you'll be able to take more hits during team fights and survive through the encounter when a 2H DK might take too much damage.

i see.. so i follow ur skill build if i wanted to change to 1h dk right? and btw, the eq i get from mob drop, i keep melting it or craft it?

    -- MERGED --

i got a unique axe lvl 29 dk.. but the dmg is low.. what should i do?

    --MERGED--

one question i miss out is abt the splendid set.. if i dont have full splendid set is it not good to wear if i got higher armor value eq that replace the "not full splendid set"
