Merging the two least active servers. (and my experience of the game so far)

So I'm fairly new, about a week or a bit more since I started playing, made an account on tegan an most people usually have the same opinion on this - It's inactive AF!

So, would it be possible to merge the US servers for a bigger community? I find the chat system pretty eh as well, You cant even PM someone, you can whisper them, but by PM I mean something they'd see when they get on if they were offline.

And, something that surprised me was, you cant even view other people's characters, like, wut?

I like the game so far, obviously seen some people complain about the pay to win system that it changed to, implying it wasn't as P2W before, but I guess all games go that way, I wish they wouldn't, and hoping this would be one of them but some of the prices really are quite absurd. Considering most games I played had a membership costing $8. When I saw deluxe, I was like.. lawl. But when I say some prices were absurd, I mostly mean other things, that cost arden.

What do you guys think about all of that? And would server merging be possible?

 

1. Merging US servers is possible ... but I am not in position to think like them ... because I don't know what is stopping them (whether it is a complexity of the operation or it is simply not paying off).
2. Sorry but I don't like someone else to see my equipment or stats. I don't sneak peek inside neighbor's bathroom ... while his wife is taking a shower. XD
3. If you don't like the prices you don't have to buy anything. That is the base concept of all F2P games ... you can play but if you want to buy something just do it. And that is quite opposite of the other games where everyone pay for membership ... or you can't play the game.

 

It's a known issue for 'i dont know' how long. They gave nice talks about merging, transfering our toons to other server and etc. And in the end only few percent of people cared about it.
So meh, don't stop on Tegan server if you care about the game.

To implement offline PM needs to create game mail system like some of games has. Which I highly doubt ever come to this game. We'd to take simplicity of this game.

Umm, ya, i know some of games offers a great opportunity to see other people's characters. Here people does the 'super great' show off of their stats on forum or wherever. Simplicity again.

As traki said above, you dont have to pay if you don't want to. But if you want to play with adventages, it's other question. Prices are fair enough for this game, if you use sales. And talking about Deluxe, you have cheaper option- a normal premium. As a beginner, you can play pretty well without deluxe.

 

In the latest Dev Diaries the game's Producer stated that server merging and character migration are not gonna happen.

You don't look at your neighbour's wife when he's in the bathroom but you can look at his house, hell most of them invite you in

So, on character viewing, no server merging, no offline PM's, same prices. Eh, I guess this will be one of the games I'll play for a month and move on from then, unless I find an interesting group of people on the server which I hope I do, usually two things keep me on games - People or Competition that I don't have to pay out the EDIT for. If neither is there then meh.

There's no "official" purpose of the guilds either from what I can see, no guild wars or anything, no cross server competitions. Mmmm.

 

Hell, I don't want anyone to see my character's stats. Then it'll never be accepted into any group...please give some privacy! (HATE THIS IDEA)

As with guilds, there had been talks about adding features...but, it's another "when".

 

If you didn't find this game boring, you'll, eventually. DSO has probably the biggest language barrier that I'd seen so far...

 

You don't? Why not? Erm... I mean: no, of course not. Who would ever do such a thing?

So says the player from Lithuania who elected to play on a US server. Really though: what would you see as a viable solution to your perceived "language barrier" issue?

 

Lol, US servers don't even have many English speaking players...and I'm still around. I don't see a "language barrier" issue, just minor translation issues when it comes to the game itself. (For this go to the respective thread).

 

Thank you for stating my country. That's why i choosed to play on Tegan. Because personally for me, servers I'd tried before had a visible language issue.

 

What language issues?
I am playing at Grimmag ... the server with most variety of languages and I can't see any issues.

Looking at the house? You can do that ... you can see other player's outfit.

You just started playing the game and you think the game should be changed according to your liking ...

I'm merely putting out ideas,that I personally believe will be good for the game, I see nothing wrong with that. If you have a problem with that, you don't need to post on the thread. No one asked you to.

Well there are people speaking different languages, a lot, but in the other games I've that wasn't really a problem because servers were fairly populated. The fact that you cant view the list of guilds that exist, is eh, at best. That's mostly how its worked before, I'd check out the list of guilds in game, see which one I like best, maybe PM the leader and see what the requirements are, and since they could view my character it'd be easier to decide for them if they want me in, these are simple things that make communication easier.

 

I should ask for your permission? Is that another new rule of your liking?

Well forget the other games ... this one is different. In this game almost no one will take you into their guild if they don't know you or being recommended by someone. And of course one can have best of the best items ... but if he/she is a noob no one will take them into their guild.

Here we have forums in more than 20 languages, closed and open groups at social web sites, player's web sites ... you can get all the info you need. But of course IF someone wants to. You can't force someone tho show you his equipment if he doesn't want to.

Of course some things can be improved ... there were lot of suggestions in the past ... but you will have to read the older threads before posting new one. In fact nothing you mentioned is new ... it has been discussed in the past in more than just a one occasion. Just search this forum ... or you can search the other language forums.

 

Has a server migration or whatever similar ever happened or has been any status communicated? Is that at all coming or was put on hold?

 

It has not been done for any DSO servers. It was seriously considered for Tegan-Agathon. A cloud-based server was opened up called "Nefertari". It was proposed as a replacement for Tegan and Agathon. Discussion died after the testing phase was complete.

Also, can an individual player move to another server through support or whatever other way due to moving to another continent? I have started the game 4 years ago while working in Europe, but was back in US in 2014. Now I spend most of the time in EST&CT. It wasnt a major issue before, besides prolexic problem in 2015, but it is getting worse with every release. Guess more and more data are going back and force, and it becomes harder to play. Missed shots, missed drop (i see an animation of smth being dropped, but nothing appears) etc.

My billing account has been migrated to US.

 

It is not possible at this stage to migrate a/cs between servers. It has been discussed and, if I recall correctly, it got as far as the design phase. But there were a heck of a lot of complexities involved and it got put on the back-burner in favour of other popular ideas which were easier/faster to implement.
