Error:Failed to download a critical file

    I get the error: Error:Failed to download a critical file when I click on any of my characters and click play, it just kicks me out of the game with that error. I would appreciate a fast reply/help for I have membership and this being going on since like today and I've no idea how long could i have this problem for I've also contacted support but I want to see if anyone has a faster solution!!

    I tried the following methods:
    Right click on "Drakensang online" app. Go to properties
    Add: After the line "C:\Program Files (x86)\Drakensang Online\thinclient.exe" -stable
    Start up client.. Let it download and update.. don't log in
    Exit app

    Go back to app, go to properties.. get rid of the '-stable'
    Log back in as usual

    And the Test server method
    Also the Clearing %temp% method.

    You are doing everything wrong.
    It is a CDN failure.

    When you play via client you don't just go to test server by changing the properties in the exe files ... because there is a completely different game version on TS. That means the files on TS are different than the files on live server ... you are just making the things worse.
    Also ... you have misunderstood something

    this method ... downloading missing files from test server is working only when you go to TS in browser not in client. When playing in browser you don't need any exe file ... you don't even have to install the game. Just enter the link in the URL bar and play.

    Delete the files in DSOClient folder and download all files from live server again.
    Exit the client and play on live server in browser.
    The game should download the missing files after some time playing in browser.
    After that you can try playing in client ...
    There is no other option when you have CDN/connection failure.

    Okay thanks any how do I play on browser I can't find anymore where I can play via browser

    You need Internet Explorer 11 and Java plugin for browser.
    Go to www.drakensang.com log in and click the "play" button

    Before clicking the "play now" button ... make sure the right server is being selected

    If the selected server is not the one you play at ... change it by clicking on "change server" and select the right server

    When Java ask you for permission ... check the "do not show this again ... ... " check-box and click "run"

    That's it ... you can play the game in browser.

    Have you tried clearing the %temp%\DSOClient folder again?

    Here are my files ... download and extract them in DSOClient folder . Hopefully the file is there :)
    Let me know when you download them so I could delete them.

    I've extracted them to the %temp% dsoclient folder and I still get the problem (Maybe I done something wrong?)

    It is a CDN issue it is not your connection.
    Wait I will log in to my level 55 midget and try to download more files ... then I will update the download link

    Yep sorry, my bad.
    I did try to unpack the files a bit earlier and it wasnt working, I probably didnt do something correct cause right after I finished my reply I tried again and it worked.
    Thought my edit was quick enough ;)

    Anyway it's working now, thanks a lot Traki!

    Probably cached files being deleted from memory ...
    You can edit your post even 50 times ... but it won't change in my browser until I reload the page ;)

    Have you checked if something is blocking your files? like OS, antivirus, firewall ... etc

    There isn't anything blocking it and also I contacted support and they just told me to
    Please clear your cookies, internet cache and your DSOClient temp folder.

    You can find the folder in...
    User > AppData > Local > Temp> DSOClient
    or... Start > Run/Search > write "%temp%" and press "ok" or "enter"> DSOClient folder opens

    Simply delete the Data and load the game (this will make loading slow for the first log in after clearing the file).

    If you still receive this error message after doing all the above, please try again later. This is a server error that eventually goes away.

    And to keep doing that otherwise I have to wait this sucks I've 3 days of premium wasted :(

    PROBLEM FIXED I just fixed it so I uninstalled/cleared all my internet cache/ deleted DSOCLIENT folder installed drakensang went into the game got the error then used the files that trakilaki gave me and replaced them in dsoclient folder so I replaced the folder and now it works!!!!!

    Could you take a screenshot of the error message so I can see what file you are missing?
    I will upload it (if I have it) so you could download it manually :)
